The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps is a popular drum and bugle corps based in Toledo, Ohio. This musical marching group has received a number of awards and citations for their excellent and unique performances. They are considered as one of the top musical corps in the United States.



The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps was founded in 1960s. They were originally called the Maumee Suns Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. During its early years, the group performed in a number of parades in Northwest Ohio.

By 1967, The Maumee Suns Corps changed their name to Glass City Optimists when they entered the Ohio American Legion Competition. After four years, the name “Glassmen” was officially adopted as the group entered a number of events and competitions.

The following years saw the Glassmen raking in awards that includes being first place in 1991 and second place in 1992. They have also been featured in many magazines that documented their success throughout the years.

Aside from participating in competition the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps also spend time performing in festivals, clinics, and various fund raising events. This corps also performs in numerous concerts and exhibition shows.

Last 2006, the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps made their first European Tour where they traveled and performed in England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
