The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps is a world renowned musical corps based in San Antonio, Texas. This musical group have performed for thousands in many parts of the United States. Their constant touring earned them various geographical homes such as in Delaware Valley as well as in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps was formed in 1975. This group was originally a result of a merge between two Philadelphia drum corps: The 507 Hornets and the Keystone Regiment. The member of the new formed group named their corps “Crossmen” in honor of the war veteran John Wesley Cross. The troop also used the Russian Christmas Music as their official corps tune.
Two years after their formation, the Crossmen received the 1977 American Legion Championship Award. This was also followed by other laurels such as the 1981 VFW National Championship and countless championship titles from the Eastern States Circuit competition. The Crossmen Corps is also a part of the Elite Top 12 for twenty-two times.
The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps are popular for their breathtaking and thrilling performances. Prior to a show, a mascot referred to as the “Bones” enters the field wearing a skull mask, a Crossmen uniform, and a red cape. Bones would spread his cape as the audience applaud in approval. The Crossmen Corps would then take the field as Bones vanish in the Corps line.
